Babbit Bearings
I have a small fleet of Johnson and Evinrude 9.5's with babbit bearings. Tolerances on these engines are getting to a point where the rods knock at low RPM. Does anybody know where I can ship my rods to have them re-poured?

What year 9.5s...I have had a few of those apart 60-70s and they have aluminum rods with liners and un-caged needle bearings.

I'm taking about the fat low profile 9.5s 68-73ish, i believe they all had the aluminum rods with liners and needles... i asked year thinking maybe you were talking about some really old antique that possibly had plain bearings. I have seen solid center main bearings on old small 2 strokes but never on the rods.

64-72 9.5 hp omc motors do have aluminum rods with insert races and needle bearings on the big end, captive pressed in needle race in small end...is your motor apart? If yes,and some oldtimer actually did pour babbit material in the big end you can stay in form by filing the cap and rod to tighten em up.I think you'll find needle bearings,or whats left of em when you open it up.
