When I was s kid, our family vacation was 3 wks in our boat, leaving Lake Erie/Ohio and visiting that area.
The term “God’s Country” is a dead nuts accurate description of it.

...difference between southern michigan & northern michigan is dramatic, agreed. especially the upper peninsula. this is why so many lower michiganders travel north to vacation each summer, in their own state. cleaner everything. virgin-like.

The pics are a mash up of where I currently live, (Lake Butte Des Morts) and a trip i took last summer up to lake Tomahawk in northern WI, then over to Lower MI, I boated Lake Charlevoix, Round, Lake Michigan, Torch Lake, back to Char, then a quick overnight stop on Lake Superior... I run the hell outta my boat, and my 400R has been flawless. In 2 years since i rigged it, I've managed to put 300 hours on it. Last fall, I trailered it out to Lake Havasu and ran all over out west. Had it on Parker, and ran it several times from the Springs to the Needles bridge. Topoc Gorge is absolutely stunning to see in person. I came back to Cheeseland on the 16th of April, and ran it a bunch more here. The "Hula" is about to make a trip to florida where it will reside on the St. Johns. Im planning on getting to know that water from Lake Jesup to Jacksonville.

I enjoy the HELL out of boating.

    Good for you dude!!

300 hrs in 2 seasons, where you live.....yikes!

Love hearing that on the 400r too.

Our family trips switched from US side up from Erie to Mackinaw Island then next yr up the Canadian side up to North Channel, Georgian Bay etc.

Ive tried several times to replicate that trip but never made it.
Between, Weather, time off, boat etc.

Plan now is to tow my 25’ Convincor to Port Huron then run up the east coast of Lake Huron as far as we can get.
My dads name was Vernon so I getting shirts made for the, “Vern Cruise”.

First couple trips were in an early ‘60’s, Chris Craft 26’ plywood cruiser w/a single inboard.
    This was before elections/GPS!
    Everything was compass course.

    Youll love Fla.
    Ive lived there twice.
    Last time for 9 yrs.
Working on the Mrs for time #3

Only thing I missed down there was the seclusion/solitude of the Great Lakes.
Ruined it for me when you’d find a place to pull up for the day/night and a family in a pontoon or kayaks pulls up!

If I recall correctly, your full-weight 23’ eliminator went over 100 on a single bone-stock pork-chop (or was it shrimp-head?). It really is a shame that these motors aren’t considered “worthy” of discussion on this forum.

Instigator - you could do the big loop. Lake Erie, Detroit River, Lake St Clair, Lake Huron, Georgian Bay, Trent Severn, Lake Ontario, Niagara River, back on Lake Erie. I know someone who’s family did that in a cruiser in the 70’s

You know, sometimes a political joke is just funny, no matter what side you are on. And face it, either candidate provides enough material to let us laugh for years. But when something funny is posted about a candidate and it turns into vile hatred being spewed back by people you never thought would, well, then that's a shame.
I agree, let's keep this about boats. That is our common bond here. There are plenty of other sites for the pundits.
That being said, oldschoolltv, if I was able to pull it off I would have gone for that LTV your friend got to recreate my 1984 vintage LTV ModVP. Picture is testing as we awaited the Bridgeport engine and before we even put the numbers on the boat.

I do have to give more thanks out to Wildman, John Hice, and Tony Chiaramonte from DCB. All were kind enough to discuss center pods with me. My effort is a culmination of all the input I've received and processed in my brain.

Thanks for the tip, Chaz. I'll take it under advisement...

The right thing is to go 450R? Or twin 400R's?
