Even with input/help from experts it still takes huge balls to start a project like that w/no guarantees on the outcome.

    Congrats to you!
    I LOVE projects like that.

25 yrs ago I was told by many experts that a V-6 OMC looper would NEVER work.
I did the project anyhow and it ran rather well 🤓

BTW, your rig would be really nice w/a single.
It would be BAD ASS w/twins!

    Just sayin.......

The right thing is to go 450R? Or twin 400R's?
I'm no expert but if I was considering twins, I'd be thinking of the 300R's for the weight savings over the 400R's. Aren't they close to 150lb lighter per motor? And two of them isn't much different in cost than a single 450 from what I understand.

...should be part numbers stamped on them. you can value them that way, by looking up the price on them. also, omc and mercury used to have a "where used" listing for part numbers. find an older merc or omc dealer that still has those lookups.

Thanks. I opened a closet hoping to find a new 300R and all I got was a bunch of greasy thrust washers! This boat stuff will kick you when you aren't looking.

Looking at this reminded me of doing a pair of Bob's nosecones on my twin 200hp Seebold. The filler was about 3/8" thick around the oil drain holes. I used a short (cut off) 3/8-16 socket head bolt with the o-ring on it as a drain plug. Spaced out just right and the socket head did not create any ill effects. Then the oil could be drained as a normal unit.
Not sure why the pics loaded sideways.....

That’s a good idea of just using a socket head bolt for the drain plug. I was thinking of welding on a piece of 1/2” stainless bar stock to the factory plug to sort of extend it to the proper length. A cut down bolt sounds like a hell of a lot less work.

So yeah, I miss having this site as my release from reality, even if for a while.

So do I hit “new posts” and ignore the covid/political posts, be selfish (???) for still wanting to play w/boats or read/participate in the informative threads that Paul and others takes the time to post?
When I ignore them I feel guilty for not doing more to fight for my country.

    Mentally, I need the release.
Off this site, I fight the good fight and always portray a positive mental attitude in front of the wife even when I just want to throw something against the wall!

So when they closed off racing in Jasper at 5:00 PM :

    1) Did the racers say, even though I'm on a roll and can win this thing .. I think we should stop so I can eat dinner , get a good night's sleep , and start fresh tomorrow in over time.

    2) Did the DSRA say, even though we can finish this today. We are going to make everyone stay another day .. because we can.

    3) Or was it the Democrap mayor of Marion County .. that said . I have a Ninja-19 Curfew in place, so I can be seen as just another libtard mayor.

We watched this movie last night called the social dilemma which explains most of the modern day polarization issues. Social media has corrupted the ability to think for most people because the algorithms that choose what content to show you does not know right from wrong and fake stories get viewed six times more than true stories so left/right if your on social media your being schooled by a computer to keep looking at the screen at mostly fake bs because your the product and the longer you stare at those sites the more $ they make. Truth/right/wrong has nothing to do with it
