    merc xr6 ignition

Sorry guys I know this an old subject. I have a 93 Merc XR6 with 40 amp ignition can I change this to a 16 amp system. Do i have to swap flywheel, stator and trigger? Or use my old trigger? I have a 87 16 amp set up i can use with my regulator and switch boxes. Any advice would be great.
