batteries still need to be 20 x better than today to compete with volume and weight with liquid fuels that we all love.

They expect electric car cost to match IC cost by 2023-2025. That does not mean I expect an electric boat to run with my SS2000 anytime soon

I am thinking our sources for electric power and its infrastructure won't even come close to supporting if everyone goes electric. We will be dead and gone by the time that happens.

There is excess capacity in most areas at night. Beats me if there is enough where I live

Will not work where I live. Lib's dance around that question anytime it is brought up. As far as cuder, please, stop feeding the troll.

Most areas don't run street lights in the day. It is colder so you use the heater more. People are home so they are on their computers, electric ovens and cooking, TVs, hottubs, etc, etc. Then you talk about charging at least one, probably two cars at night..... all night....

Industry analysts predict that by 2020, China alone will generate some 500,000 metric tons of used Li-ion batteries and that by 2030, the worldwide number will hit 2 million metric tons per year.

Lithium-ion batteries have made portable electronics ubiquitous, and they are about to do the same for electric vehicles. That success story is setting the world on track to generate a multimillion-metric-ton heap of used Li-ion batteries that could end up in the trash. The batteries are valuable and recyclable, but because of technical, economic, and other factors, less than 5% are recycled today. The enormousness of the impending spent-battery situation is driving researchers to search for cost-effective, environmentally sustainable strategies for dealing with the vast stockpile of Li-ion batteries looming on the horizon.

I just don't see IC engines going away unless there is some game-changing new battery tech... and not just another type of toxic, rare, expensive mineral.

whats the carbon footprint of a lithium ion battery?
I have heard the mining part is very low yield as in ton of lithium is under 500,000 tons of overburden?

In the era of post internal combustion engines.
Will the Electric vehicles come equipped with loud speakers, blaring the forgotten sound of V8 power?

Your great grand-kids might have to go to a car museum, to hear this sound.
