I am on a plane to Florida for work as I write this. A friend of mine has stepped up to oversee the concrete work tomorrow morning. Hopefully all goes well. Fingers crossed! Thanks for all the encouraging words guys!

Well, step one is complete, now 2-4 weeks before the building gets here. Hopefully I'll have word on exactly when later this week!

My plan is to extend the existing shed roof to meet the side of the new building. That will give me two bays covered outside between the shop and the storage room. Hopefully it will be adequate! I know I'm going to want more but for now it's a good solution!

My shop is 30X50 with an attached 10X16 and it was too small before I even used it. My 3 car garage at home has everything but cars in it. Never enough room, but make do with what I have.

At least he can add on. I cannot, wish I could. I would have to buy another property and for that to happen a Democrat would have to be president. Property values are sky high in my area, not like they were 4 years ago.

I agree with you. I was complimenting him that he will have cover to put things under....even if it wasnt in an enclosed space. There's an old proverb....."don't despise small beginnings".

All of my stuff is in storage units. Been there for a couple of years now. I used to have a three car garage where I had an amazing shop(no cars). I am making lemonade with all life's lemons right now. But, the sun is still shining. I wish I had a pad like Josh right now....to see an end to the struggles

Josh I am happy for you man. I am envious of you..........moving forward and taking the tough ground!!!

You wouldnt be a hoarder Joe, would you? I'm just teasin'. You can never have enuff space. 30 x 50 sounds very similar to what I had. I remember wanting more space too back then. Right now, Id take anything.

No Keith, the last thing I am is a hoarder. I get rid of things and then it seems a week later I could have used it. I could make room for a car at home in the garage, but I would probably not use it anyways. In my shop I keep my truck as well a vette and then all the tools I have take up most of the rest of the space. I have some big tools like a scissor lift, cement mixer, a bunch of ladders and scaffolding etc. I do have enough room, but it would be nice to have more.

I started out working outside any day, anytime of the year so I know what it is like to struggle. I have it so good now that I should not complain, and do not feel that I am, but we always want more, right? I will admit that I am spoiled with the heated shop, but still do not have a/c.

What are you waiting on? Get that a/c already. That was my one wish in my old space as well.....a/c. I dont mind the cold.......my kerosene heater was a blessing. But the summer humidity..........miserable. Put two window shakers in.........one at each end........look at me, telling you what I had planned to do with my old space. I was going that route.............it was the cheapest way to cool things off.

I only have two windows, sliders, and they are both on top of my 10' overhead door. I have a few powerful fans and run a dehumidifier. The only way I could have a/c would be to install a new heat system. Right now I just have a hanging unit with no duct work. The building is 3 layers of brick with a 13' ceiling that is really well insulated, so it stays relatively cool.

I will build a new shop in the near future. That shop will have a central heat and a/c system with full duct work. Wire in a full sound system, a lift that will pick up my truck. All the things I want now, but do not have,

That's the one positive to having a small shop, it's easier/cheaper to climate control!

Amen to that. It cost me more to keep my shop at 55 then it does my home @ 70. My shop is at the commercial rate, but still, I use way less gas heating the home then the shop.
