    Twins spacing

Going to put twins on a boat that’s only ever had a single....from what I read 20” centers seems to be about as close as you can go? I want these close, but of course not stupid close so I can’t close the bungees. 2.5’s with 260 cowls. Anyone else confirm that number? Thanks

At least 6ft on that hull,,,,maybe more.......And this is a high performance boating site, not
a site to see how many crab traps you can carry at 59+ mph.....

Just to bring this old thread up to date in case anyone else was ever curious. I decided on going with regular drop on (heavy) stock cowls on this and those cowls will hit on 20” centers. I never got my hands on a second 260 cowl to confirm the 20” centers on those cowls. These stock heavy cowls need 22” centers to keep them from hitting at full lock.

I think you were still right on 260 cowls.

It’s an old ‘81 21’ T-Craft. Pretty flat bottom work boat popular for running drugs down here in the Keys back in the day through skinny water. They later found a lot of work as lobster/crab boats. They made a 24’ and a 28’. Company was out of Titusville and went out of business in 1981 when the factory burned down. Im building it as a sandbar/bay boat with a center console and twin carb FF’s.

69 - my first car….got it when I was 14. Original 351w car, it had a 351c in it when I got it in ‘94. Kinda a beater now, but still a lot of fun and in the garage with a 472 BBF in it.

Its pretty simple, take a yard stick{ 3ft}and double it,,,that way you have room in the middle for a trolling motor??Question, now that you have a counter rotating gear case what side are you placing it on???? Remember toe in toe out,,,,and the trolling motor should be angled to the right for torque offset....Ed

If I remember, back in the day those boats were also used for carrying lobster habitats on the gulf side of the keys,,,mostly at night to avoid getting sunburned, maybe just local nonsense.
