2.4 merc v6 carb swap
Hi everyone,
I recently picked up a new boat which is a hydrostream vegas with a 2.4 200, i did a compression test
passenger side was 128 even across all 3
driver side was 122 to 124
Took it for a drive and it was holding 1800 rpms or so and would not plane pushed the choke for one second boom opened up went on plane and ran ok, i got into it once would only go to 5400 62mph with my 25P prop let off after about 10 seconds as i figured could be dirty carbs and didnt want to lean out a cylinder and blow it.
There is a 2.4 bridgeport with two damaged cylinders for sale for a few hundred dollars and was thinking rather than rebuilding the stock carbs i could swap these on, Would there be any performance gains by doing so? Is the tuner the same or different? I cannot find a serial # anywhere on my engine to verify year. checked passenger side by the linkage and middle cylinder nothing anywhere.
Thanks,Last edited by cameronj; 09-22-2020 at 07:45 PM.

carb kits are cheap.. really only need all new gaskets and good cleanin'.. look here for a build date.. on block half at base of number two cylinder.. its there, jus might be hard ta see... be 1/8" numbers, m/d/yr.
oh yeah, havin' ta push tha key may be a fuel pump issue... its definitely a fuel delivery problem....Last edited by tlwjkw; 09-23-2020 at 05:24 AM.

You might double check what carbs you have now. If some bone head put on small ones, then maybe some gain. If you have wh 22 or 46, then stay with them.

The existing ones have WH on the top left and 1374 5427c on the top right.
