    oil injection

    Can you remove the oil injection on a 300XS,

    They are direct injection. They only spray fuel in the cylinders, there would be no place for the bearings to get oil.

    I always say, you can do anything.....once.

    But also, they don't use the old mechanical, gear-driven oil pump... so why?

    Someone with better knowledge may chime in. But if I understand correctly, the fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber, and oil is injected elsewhere for lubrication. If you premix, everything below the top of the piston will completely miss out on any lubrication since the fuel/oil mix is not traveling through the crankcase.

    Yes, the question was "why bother removing the oil injection since this type is not prone to failure".

    for example, the rod bearing caps on an oil mixed injection has a hole for collecting oil from the passing mixed fuel. the new oil system has no hole thus no oiling of the rod bearing. stay with the newer oil system.
