Hey guys been a stalker of the site for a while and I know there is knowledgable people hear, got a question, my 2005 200L lost the top crankshaft bearing and I'm doing a rebuilt, my question is should my connecting rods have a purple hue to them, looks strange to me

No, no color on bearing, no other signs of heat, even the connecting rod bearings show no color, just on the upside of the rods

Got ahold of a ole mercury drag racer I know and he says some oils will color the rods like that, the motor is a 05 and I've used the snot out of it and used whatever oil i needed at the time from mercury to pennzoil to super tech, he says if the bearings and inside the cap are not showing blue its prolly just from the oil, it's only colored on the side of the rods that face the intake, gonna run them by his place where he can evaluate them
