Gearcase ratio 300X for a skater 21

Hi everybody,

Does anyone have an idea of the better gearcase ratio on a skater 21 single 300 R set up ? (300R yeah sorry, i miss the tittle... not 300X...)

1.62 or 1.75 ?

Had a 22 Liberator with a 300r. It was set up with the 1.75 gear ratio. Was running a 34 pitch 5 blade Cleaver 15.25 inches in diameter. Boat ran 111 at 6300 rpm. Wasnt a lot of prop choices available. Randy has run the same combination with a 1.62. Ran about the same speed, with less prop, but acceleration was slower.
Would think a 1.62 would be better. Would give you more prop choices to dial in your combination. With the 1.75 gear, I could see you at 36 pitch or more, because you have to run these gearcases high to get the speed out of them. Once you get above 36 pitch their are not many choices unless you go custom, like DeWald, or Hering.

The 1.60 ratio has proven to be faster on all of the test that I have seen and were posted from Mercury.

I posted here because i think boaters are > than ingeneers or sellers...

It really need to be clear in my mind, i want my 21 skater to go 100 mph and don't miss it and be easy to ride to.
