They got to make money when they can because in ten years you are going to see a lot of electric outboards, the lowest power Tesla motor is 280HP - 503lb-ft
That 500 ft lbs is instantaneous, make battery packs to fit in hulls angle game over...
I'm sure gear cases with serious prop shafts will be built, how does the 7 Marine ul hold up?
Waste of HP or what? https://youtu.be/ia3f6ja2838

Hannity played a clip of joemalla stuttering about how we will have a zero carbon output by 2050 .. Guess that dain brammaged empty suit thinks the no malarkey bus and that kerosene burnin fan he fly's around in are both gonna be converted to Cuderpouarbout extension cords ..
The United States industry as a whole needs to tell the government to ****off until they downsize themselves (other than the police and military) to where they are no bigger that the Dept of Motor Vehicles .. or the school board .. The biggest waste of air in this country .. are all the useless bureaucrats jamming up our govt.

On that note, I would bet my life on it that Mercury is playing with the idea of electric outboards right now.

The Califrutis are pushing the elimination. Guess were gas prices will go as they force all the gas stations to close, so they can force the hold outs off the road. 2035 is their current ban date. Bet that gets moved to 2030, which is their real goal probably, 2035 a little easier to get through now.

We really need to get on hydrogen. That way we can at least have something similar rather than all electric.Last edited by SinOjos; 09-24-2020 at 05:52 PM.

One of the big changes all electricity companies have done in the past decade. They used to pay a fair price for hooking up your solar system to the grid. Good enough that solar companies would install for free, then split the income. They all have changed that now to such a low payment, that it is no longer financially feasible, small long term roi, that might eventually pay for the system in 20-30 years.
Yea I know does not jive with what they claim. I was in the solar industry in the mid 1990's in Tucson Arizona, got sick of fighting the electric company, and every other service provider, and home owner association that had no solar devices written into the book. Which was written by the developer, who got FREE utility installation from the electric & gas company. Then staffed the HOA with people who have never had any power over anyone or anything in their whole life (low intelligence), their last hurrah to get back at anyone they could.
Arizona has a law that precludes anyone from stopping you from putting a solar devices on your house. Yet, they all intimidated and threatened all home owners, most lacked the cajones to protect their rights provided by law. A few wealthier ones in the Phoenix area took them to court. It is all horribly corrupt. If every house in Arizona had solar, there would be an excess. No need to purchase any fuel at all.
The rest of the world uses solar extensively. Even if it is a black barrel on top of the roof for hot water. Germany they build houses with water pipes running all over the walls and floors, solar heats the water, water circulates, heats house.
Australia, had one of the most advanced water heaters 40 years ago. Simple tubes with glycol a holding tank with an electric heating element for those extended cloudy days. Provided 80% of water heating needs in the average climate. In Arizona, 99%. But of course, have to stop that, cannot have that.
Elon recently installed solar stuff in Australia, and is a big success. Something that could have been done 20 years ago. Sure batteries are better now, the solar collectors a bit better. The mantra has been solar is not good enough yet, BS.
It has taken someone to buck the old boys system. The fact that it has not been done in the US, says a lot.

Since everyone will be dependent upon the electrical grid. Increased capacity will be needed, they already have blackout problems. Taxes on everything will go up, including the tax on the electricity. They will mandate that every house have a solar device connected to the grid, then force you to pay. After every auto manufacture produces only electric, guess what, electrical tax for all the electricity it will consume over it's life time, at purchase time.
Kinda like the Federal Exit Tax. People have been renouncing their US Citizenship in higher numbers in the past 20 years than ever in history. The baby boomers were pulling their money out and moving abroad. Federal Government does not like that. So rather than produce a country that people want to stay in, they enforce a tax law that deters people from leaving. If they do leave they pay a tax on all future earnings of THEIR money, as if it was left in the US.
Don't worry about the State & Federal governments not getting money out of you. They will find a way.
Easy peasy! : )
In other countries around the world 2 strokes still dominate, still a lot in Mexico. If you want your 2 stroke, simply get the hell out of the Land of The Free, but you will have to pay an exit tax if you take your money with you!
Thailand 2 stroke 150cc 9 second 1/4 mile will beat the pants off many 4 strokes!

To give you a real existing example about the at purchase time "electric tax" for all electric vehicles.
In California, and some places in Arizona. They have been able to get a one time "community improvement tax" approved on all new residential home sales. They typically range from 10k-20k. They sell it as a tax for roads, fire department, first responders, all for your safety, etc. They state that tax is NOT paid by the home purchaser, that it is paid by the developer and or home builder. Some people fall for it. Like if the developer that is making 20k on each house in the 200 home development, is going to pay 20k in additional taxes, but not raise the sales price.
Starting in 2005 they started pushing for such in Tucson. The people in the Sierra Club were heavily involved. They had all socialist thinking people going out getting signatures pushing their "developers tax". I have known some of the originators of the Sierra Club, gone now, big time tree huggers, who fell for the University pro-communism crap from the 60's.
They are not happy with the pennies on the dollar per consumer sale, combined with the yearly property taxes. They want that along with a big lump sum on every sale, all for your safety of course. Here in Tucson they cannot find the 1.3 billion they collected for road improvement 20 years ago. Now they are asking for the same money again, those of us alive then, are like, WTF happened to the 1.3 billion you collected, and has supposedly been sitting in the bank collecting interest while waiting for the actual road building to start. No one can seem to find the actual paper work in the Empire State Building high stack of paperwork provided for citizen review.
Fortunately to this day. The Tucson voters have not voted in the "developers tax"
They will simply push for the same thing with electric vehicles, a big lump sum tax for all future use. It will be a manufactures tax, you the consumer will NOT have to pay it! Such takes care of the people that charge their car with a solar device that they paid for out of pocket. They will find a way, don't worry your little heads about that. They will get their money.Last edited by SinOjos; 09-24-2020 at 08:03 PM.
