Hmm... marketing and PR missed the boat on this. Would have been neat to see the outboard speed record beat, and then "Here is your new race motor!" Anyhoo...

I run 88-89 mph with my 400R using a Max5 25 prop. I presume I need to go to a Max5 27 prop with the new set up. I will also check out Hill 5 bl cleaver. However, it only has 15 degree of rake, and I am uncertain if thats to low for my ol style V bottom. Estimated speed 95 mph +.

Anyone ever modify your type of hull, like add a set of strakes ?

    Hi,

My Phantom 25 is from 1985. Phantom made a 23 footer with a pad a little later and its a faster hull. The 25 was foremost made for offshore racing with twin XR2 engines.

The Chaudron 25 Sport is more less identical to Phantom 25, and they modified the bottom to be a step hull. According to Aaron at Chaudron the boat runs both faster and better now.

I have added a notch to mine increasing the setback. I did it to offset balance as I strengthened the foredeck with divinycell a few years back.

I have decided to keep the boat as original as possible since it runs very well. May not be the fastest but compete easily with much bigger boats running high seas 😁

I think we can get the boat close to 100 mph with the 450R with the correct set up. Time will tell 🕺🕺

    Cheers Toffen
