Looking at the, “Guide to Mercury 2.5 blocks”, I have an “LL” on my 260 blocks. On the guide, “LL” says -2.5-260-Drag. What does that mean? I see the “PP” stamping is just 260.

Drag means different porting, different heads and different ECU + fuel pressure regulator that allow the engine to rev higher and make about 300 hp. It also means that various other bits and pieces (parts with a technical term) are different from the offshore and bass fishing versions. Exact differences vary by year.
