Aerate the lawn with an aerator you can usually rent them for a day and pour castor oil with a bit of Murphy’s oil soap in all the holes. Should send em packing

Appreciate the advice these things are multiplying now I got raccoon prints digging by the holes. I ordered castor oil and a sprayer I have been dropping chewing gum in the holes and they just go to another area. So far I have had roof rats the gas company left a hole around the pipe caught them closed around the pipe, had a mouse got him in a trap, a raccoon tore the screen out of the soffit vent and tore the attic up got him out and repaired the hole. I have a blind veteran next door and everything is over grown and I check on him and help him with problems but the yard is above me it's a jungle. I have a dog and poison is out of the question any light anyone can shed is appreciated houses too close to shoot em I have a single shot 22 remington with a long barrel can dot and i can only wish. thanks

Maybe this would lure them out of their holes so you could shoot them.

I’m tapped that’s all I know. Had em once years ago did the oil trick and they were gone that year. Plenty of cats around though so maybe that had something to do with it

...now that the weather will be a bit cooler, ask around, or print some flyers, asking for volunteers to all get together on a saturday, to attack & cleanup the veteran neighbors complete yard. would suggest to plan to do it on a saturday, just before your bulk trash pickup day. O.K. this with the veteran first. then at your house, buy & install the long white perforated plastic(sometimes there white aluminum) soffit grills that homo depot or lowes sells. i screwed mine up with short little hex head screws that i zipped in with a battery drill with a little socket that fits the hex head. i spray painted them white on a big piece of cardboard the day before.

...this is what the soffit grills, or screens, look like. they could be metal or plastic. each section is 10' long. they really work & look good. they can be flipped on either side depending how they fit your soffit best...

...those screens come with mounting holes in them usually, they just are'nt in that picture. these are the short type hex head screws i used to screw mine into my existing wood soffit trim that was already up there on my florida house. this picture makes them look really big, they are not, they are quite small.

...when installing the above screen sections, overlap them ever so slightly & thats where you put some screws...at the overlap. don't butt end them. you can also simply install these new screen/grills right over the top of your existing original mesh screens. no need to tear out the old stuff. a helper at the bottom of the ladder, handing you things, really makes this job fast & easy.
