Ed is running in V6 Pro with a Purcell built laser injected steel bore.
The cowl is all in an an effort to get cold air in and hot air out.

I've only seen 2 of those kinda cowls the other is the "batman "boat. Has the bat symbols all over the cowl. R those just a custom made cowl ? I guess pan to?
Also that steel bore laser motor runs damn good , id sure like to hear more about it ,but im sure those r big secretsLast edited by Merc 2.5; 10-12-2020 at 03:08 PM.

Those cowl's are from overseas don't remember where?
Not sure anyone makes them anymore.
I know some run flywheels from Australia, when your spinning 11,000 rpm things get critical. We have invented the world; WE see

That is called the “Euro” cowl. The batboat is Brads....he’s buddies with Ed. Mullins has a mold for the Euro cowl. When Ed got it the fit and finish was, ummmm, well you know. It went to Jack and he did what he could with it. Personally, I hate that cowl, it’s ill fitting and UGLY....but I get what he wants to do with it. Previous he ran a shorty carbon Nass cowl that currently resides on DJ’s little white and teal Checkmate.
As for that motor, it’s pretty special....lol yea, secrets. I will tell you it was built in 2007 - has had the beejeezus run out of it - and hasn’t been apart since. And if you run the numbers on the block it comes back as a 2.5 150 lol.

Yes that’s the one. 16ft. Dj has owned that boat since he was a kid....it used to be his river boat - been 96mph running a 200 and a 32. We decided to see if we could get it light enough to run SODA formula2 and that has progressed to running odba v6 Pro. He’s pretty out gunned out there, but we are putting together a new motor for next season and it’ll start really making some people upset I promise lol.

I agree, the euro,or tear drop cowlings are ulgy,,,,,,,They were used yrs ago on tunnel boats...I wanted one to try out something that I saw happening behind most of the cowlings on allys,STVs and most other boats at speed...The big ball of mist just behind the cowl,,That is low pressure,,which is drag..I cut a big hole in the front and 8 inch by 2inch at end of tear drop.Mercury did it on all of the comp cowls,,louvers,on top ,sides, back,,,freash air,ecu temps???? Does it work???I think anytime you can make something work a little bit better in the air or in the water, you get to use the HP you have to its highest potential......And yes randy its FUGLEY.....
