    yes ill say lot of work years ago these were all that i did lower rebuilding and cone work the filling and sanding was my short suit your looks very nice i will say was tab welded or epoxied i always welded mine on not saying my ways was better at all, i literally could build two v6 merc powerheads in the time it took me to do a cone job but the experience i got from that end of outboards has helped me many times in the last couple of decades good luck with that set up

    Thank you sir......... Yeah, it is a bit time consuming for sure but to me the end results are self gratifying.

    Tab is welded and I used Marine Tex for blending it in.

    On mine I welded the plug to a piece of 5/8 s/s rod 2 inches long screwed it in then bog/ epoxied around it.
    Then cut the rod back flush to the new case profile.
    Put the plug in and marked a new slot in the line of the water flow then used a 2mm disc to cut a screw drive slot in the plug.
    Then put a blob of tig weld at each end of that slot so the water would gouge at the epoxy at 80mph.
    Polish everything flat and true.
