Adding low water fitting to 2005 XR6 Lower Unit

What is the recommended thread size (NPT) for adding a low water pickup fitting on the suction side of the L/Unit water chamber ?
    Thx

One hose on each side really makes a difference, Tex? What did you run for hoses and fittings?

Yes, and also according to John Marles from his cooling mods article:

i always used Bobs stuff when it was still Bobs i had account with them they had a very good cone in my opinion i used hard copper tube of the ac variety as it was bigger then water copper tube so more water! and then i fiberglassed them in they looked cool after i stopped going to all that trouble i used hose and fittings provided by Bob and bought stainless braid for hose cover but i always welded these guys up more then anyone i knew but not solid i liked to pour epoxy in the gap in between housing and cone so no void was left just in case. im not sure how many i did it was quite a few i shipped them all over the US for several years but i quit after i started building more and more motors shucks i could build two motorswhile i was messing with that one gear case

ya gotta "french" it in with a very short piece (can be long ta start and cut ta fit your body work) of tubing welded and/or epoxied to tha case.....

This is a work in progress project. I've yet to machine up a water pickup for the transom, it will be similar to a Bob's unit except better. I would have gone with a low water pickup nose cone but my 15" mid won't allow it, it would interfere with the clamp/jackplate.

looks like a lot of work on a nonratcheting case not sure of what the cone will do for you with it setting low enough in the water for the side inlets to work
