Is Merc going to offer 200hp 4 stroke like the 150s they now make?

The standard 4 stroke that is 150 hp.

I asked my dealer couple of years ago this same question. He said prob not. The 150's are 460#s as is. A 175 v-6 4s is 470#s I hear the 175's are fairly strong runners.

The pro XS model is said to be pushing 185+ ponies. (bia allows 10% variance ) So moving to a heavier v-8 200 at 505#s might not get any better performance. They should push the 175 out to 200+ and keep it at 470#s.

Sure would be nice if they can get 200hp out of the in-line 4 since it weighs about 470lbs with cowling etc. The V-6 with cowling fluids and gearcase from what I’m told weigh closer to 520lbs and is currently already offered through 225hp. I’m told the v-8 weighs about 560lbs. So yes having something under 500lbs with 200hp sure would be nice from Mercury Racing.

The V6 is nice, and the ProXS 175 is strong and is a good value. The 150 ProXS makes 163 on the dyno, you can put the 1.75 or 1.85 gears in it from the 4.88" verado case. The V6 can take a TM. And the V6 can use the lower mounts from the racing V8 engines.

Yes, a 4 cyle 200 would be great, and a 225R V6 would be a really nice option too. If Racing does anything, it will be with the V6.

Going to stay old school I guess. Season is over and its time to make decisions and start stripping and rebuilding the boat. Have 2-225X powerheads available to me. Guess I will use them
