Mercury 150 vs Mercury 150 Pro XS
I am thinking about ordering a new 21' Tritoon and considering upgrading from the normal 150 Mercury four stroke to the 150 pro xs since it is only a couple of hundred dollars more. it seams the pro xs is more for a bass boat but I would think the tritoon would benefit from the extra bottom end torque plus better charging system. For those that are familiar with these motors is there any reason that I should not upgrade to the pro xs? It seams like they are a little extra horsepower at the prop also.

Interesting the Pro XS has 2.08 gears and the regular 1.92. 2.08 would be better for a toon

Step up to the 175 Pro XS, it’s a strong 175 and the V6 makes a ton of torque.

I've seen several boats powered with the 150. Everything I've heard has been positive. Hopefully some owners will chime in with some real world experience.

Wavetowave has their Grandsport to 80 with a 150. Not too shabby

99.999% of these 150 HP toons have Yamaha 150’s hanging off the back so finding Mercury experience may be a challenge.

Get the largest gearcase with lowest ratio you can. Make sure it has the large barrel and 15 spline. This is imperative.

I would go with the ProXS. Lower gears, solid mounts, and LWP. for just a little more money. The Wave dude put up some good numbers with an Allison .
