Lots of interesting stuff here, I think I'm going to go scope a trigger now. One question, if you put a inductive tach/timing light on your plug wires, because it is "double firing" would you see an increase in RPM? I assume you would, and I have come across a few situations of erratic timing light RPM, even though I have strong spark. Maybe this has been the issue as well?
Also what are you guys using for a scope? Ive been looking for a better setup.

The first pic is a cheap and basic $30 from china, 2 channel scope from ebay which needs a laptop to display and I have an old dell for that.
The second pic is a fast old TEK, $150, 2 Gig. samples per second, 500 Mhz, 4 channel scope that I shot the trigger coils with on this thread.
The third pic is a digital RIGOL $350, 50 Mhz, 4 channel scope that I have used to test spark plug coils etc.
I also have a couple of DC probes that measure up to 10 amps to also test various coils etc.
They could all do the job for the trigger signal. The TEK displays what the probes pick up and the digital Rigol displays a representation of what the probes pick up but has lots of memory and the TEK has limited memory. The cheap scope stores it on your computer, but it is not fast and very basic, plus you need to use your laptop so a little more inconvenient to set up. There is some experience to get the set up right to capture a good signal, but there are lots of instructional videos for that. There are also pretty competent scopes for $100 on ebay so one for every budget.Last edited by Soporific; 09-03-2020 at 05:47 PM.

Thanks PanRonnie, I ended up buying a wack of parts from Bullet123, who is liquidating his stock and closing his shop. He has a thread in the buy and sell.

Update: So customs held up my shipment of parts and I just now have them to test and I have tested both used flywheels with good news to report. Pictured below is how the trigger signal to the switch boxes should read at idle speed. Even, about 6-7 volts and only single clean spikes for each of the six cylinders. A beautiful sight if you recall my other hub magnet signal at the start of this thread.
For clarity,
channel 1 is for trigger coil #1 and fires cylinders 1 on the up spike and 4 on the down spike.
channel 2 is for coil #2 and fires cylinder #3 on the up and #6 on the down
channel 3 is for coil #3 and fires cyl #5 on the up and cyl #2 on the down
As you move from left to right the firing order is 1,2,3,4,5,6.
Also note that this new pattern is with my original trigger assembly, the same as before so the new pattern is from the hub magnet in the new to me flywheel from Bullet123.Last edited by Soporific; 09-26-2020 at 03:51 PM.

Many thanks to Bullet123 for the great packing and shipping of good parts to me. It is nice to deal with honest people.

Are those 2 signals (the ones in the beginning of thread, and the end) done on the same scope? The last one is WAY crisper!
