I designed/built a bunch of kneel down boats back in the day and a couple of dinghies for recent cruisers we owned.

I think I saw 72 on your video?
Thats flat freagin flyin for an in-line and even more so on a home made wood boat.

    Way cool dude!
Thanks! Construction is batten seam, cold molded. Basically longitudinal battens over ring frames, diagonal plywood over the battens and 1/4" planks epoxied to the plywood, with the plank edges aligned with the battens. The design is loosely modeled on a 1937 Century Thunderbolt, but modified for outboard power and the designer (Ken Bassett) incorporated a 12" wide pad into the construction. I don't have many construction photos, but did find photos showing the genesis of the pad, pretty interesting. I was stumped for a while trying to figure out the framing for the pad. Rather than using staples to attach the mahogany bottom and side planks, I vacuum bagged them. No staple holes to fill, but the stress levels when trying to find and seal any air leaks before the epoxy set were almost too much for a first time builder, LOL!

The boat was designed to use a late '80s 60HP Mercury, which is very light compared to the L6 and CMC trim system I have on her now. The boat handles the increased weight well, but under 37mph she does porpoise like crazy. I made a 5 degree wedge out of mahogany attached to the transom, but still not enough negative trim. Not really an issue considering how I typically use the boat. Gauges include water pressure, GPS speedo, tach, voltmeter, fuel, mechanical trim indicator. Hot Foot throttle, Uflex Silver Steer hydro steering.

I’ve infused a few boats but as a helper, not owner.

Always thought it took balls of steel.
We were doing a 28’ boat w/55 gallon drone of resin

W/your hop, and no trim, you either set up for no hop, or wide open throttle.

They make smaller jack plates w/integrated trim.

Would add prolly 50 lbs to the transom but may be able relocate other weight to compensate.

What are you running for a prop?
    Through hub 2 blade brass?

And for a first time effort???
You sir, hit it out of the park!

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Awesome run & great looking boat!

Totally off topic, but what are you using to get the speed / time / distance overlay on your video?

I use a Sony Action Cam HDR-AS100 which has a built in GPS sensor. The Sony software extracts and overlays that data automatically when importing file to computer. I think GoPro, Garmin and others have this feature. Pete.
