Bonjour encore mon ami, Your jack plate in the picture looks like at least 8" of set back and maybe 10". You can check with some members on the Checkmate forum but porpoising and other handling issues were sometimes caused by too much set back with the 400R which weighs at least 150 lb more than the 300XS or 300R. The 400R has 4"-5" of set back built into the bracket. The blue 400R / BRX that I test drove did not porpoise (but it had trim tabs) and almost no chine walking at 76 - 77 mph. I think the Atlas bracket was about 5" of setback (plus another 4" - 5" built into the motor. However there are some members with 8" of set back on their Atlas jack plates.
