    Hydrostream vasseret

I have a 1990 hydrostream vasseret yt with a 1989 Suzuki dt175 v6. I am currently running a 24 pitch 4 blade thru hub prop 5900 rpm at 62 mph the prop shaft is 3 inch below the pad motor bolted on transom. I think the motor is hitting a limiter manual says 5000 to 5600 rpm range. I tried my 24 pitch chopper and it just slipped boat wouldn't plane. with current prop the boat accelerates very fast and planes under 20 mph. I know nothing about the motor weight or gear ratio want a prop with good top end and still good acceleration.any help would be greatly appreciated I was thinking a new pro max mercury prop what pitch?

Add 8” of setback, raise the motor even with the pad, add a nosecone for low water pick ups, try a 28 Hoss or similar

or try a 26 Trophy and change nothing else.

Thanks David I sure appreciate the information have you owned hydrostreams? I also own a voyager v that needs floor core and transom. I ran a 200 pro max mercury with a 24 pitch chopper with 6" jack plate this boat ran 72 MPH around 6000 rpm the pad on the voyager is narrow and flat the vasseret pad is wider and has a slight v. Not sure why the vasseret wouldn't plane with the chopper it just slipped. I thought this 18 foot tunnel boat would be faster the 175 Suzuki is just under 2.7 liter at 465 pounds almost 100 more than the pro max. My vasseret is a garage queen with good floor core and transom I am planning on a foot throttle hydraulic steering and some setback any more info would be great does anyone own a old v6 Suzuki?

I had a Virage. Wide body version of your hull. 73 mph with a lightly modified 150 XR4 using a 26 Hoss hyperdrive. It would rev to 5000 and slowly plane. Then I installed a Bob’s True Tracker foil and it just rolled onto a plane with no drama.

Sounds like you had a good setup David. Anyone else have similar boats? What setup and speeds are you running?

Motor is too low for a chopper. Need to be somewhere 1.5" below to 1.5" above the pad for chopper to work well. I've never messed with a 'Zuk outboard but it's probably putting so much exhaust over the prop it can't bite. You may not be able to raise that motor much without adding a low water pickup. Do you have a water pressure gauge? Do you have a jack plate?

Going to add all the good stuff at the end of the season for now going to try different props. The original owner of the boat whom I bought it from said it had the ski prop on it. He also had a prop for speed and said the boat ran about 80 MPH. Unfortunately he lost that prop and had no idea what it was. The dealer he bought it from is out of business. I sure appreciate the help any more ideas are welcome.

Do you know what the difference would between the Tempest and the Pro Max prop?
