1999 225 Mercury 3.0L For Sale - Needs T/T Unit
My trusty workhorse needs a tilt and trim unit. The old one is off and cannot be rebuilt. A SEI/API replacement is $850; a used one is $400-500 on eBay. They did offer to build me a new one for $1,400 if you don't want to run aftermarket parts.
She's a 1999 Mercury 225. 3.0L V6, carburetor model. I just ran compression on it last month. It is right in line with Mercury specs (90-95 PSI across the board), and identical to when I hung it 3 years ago. We have run this boat once/twice a week, almost every week, since we landed in Clearwater, FL last year. She's a sold performer, but thirsty. I don't know how many hours, but she runs strong and has plenty of life left in her. I really feel the fuel savings from a four stroke would greatly offset the cost for as much as we use the boat. She pushes my bracketed 23' Mako at 45-46 MPH fully trimmed out.
The oil injection has been removed. I run pre-mix at a 50:1 ratio. It will go with a box of spares: coils, ignition module, stator, alternator, harness, water pump impeller, bleed tubing and check valves, gaskets, lower unit seal kits, extra set of carbs, and more. All rigging will be included: top mount console control, ignition and kill switch, throttle and shift cables, and harness from helm to motor. I may be able to include the Faria tachometer and water temperature gauge. I will keep the prop.
If you are interested, I will send pictures of the outboard as well as the compression tests (old and recent). You will have to come help remove it (it won't take long). Located in Clearwater, FL. Someone has the opportunity to get a great motor for a very reasonable price. She is available for a sea trial before purchase. Convince me you need the motor more than I do, and talk me into a new 4 stroke. Email me your contact info at scottwagner1@me.com
Reason for edit: forgot to mention it's a 25" transom motor.
