On TV shows, they hide the outboard brand
Has anyone noticed that on TV shows like Shark Week or River Monsters or whatever of the many more like them, they seem to go out of the way to: not show the motor(s), or obscure the brand when a closeup is unavoidable, or only show the whole motor when the camera is far enough away that you can’t read the branding?
I’m sure there’s some kind of “product placement“ legalease. Behind it. Or maybe Yamaha (Or whatever brand) doesn’t want their motors portrayed in boats they have not approved through their marketing department. Such as maybe some old beater aluminum skiff that has lived a hard life.
Anyway, wondering if others have noticed the same thing.

And they also make outboards sound like I/O's with thru-hull exhausts. That absolutely miserable movie with John Travolta supposedly playing Don Aronow being the prime example. Of course it also happened on Miami Vice too come to think of it.

...remember the movie the italian job? great movie. remember the 20 foot whaler or whatever it was, with the mercury V-6 on the back, that they faked that they dropped the safe into? it took off out into the canal system & was chased. that was funny. good chase scenes, but funny to listen to.

Another European movie's boat chase, and Yamaha was hi-lighted in this chase.
There is some James Bond type maneuvers in this move too.
I noticed in this movie, some of the buildings windows, are only about 2 feet above the canal water's surface.
A definite No Wake Zone, is appreciated in those areas.
This is one of my favorite boat chases in movie cinema.
