    R & D - Fuel / Exhaust Flow Methods

Direct Charge, Loop Charge, Looper, Cross Flow, Scavenged, etc. How was this analysis done? Smoke? Fluid dye? Plexiglas or pyrex glass heads? High speed cameras? Computer modeling of this sort really didn't start to happen until the 80s but diagrams depicting the various techniques were in sales brochures as early as the 50s?
