If you can got your hands on a V-4 OMC SRX prop it will surprise you how it runs.
I would defiantly go with a low water pick up.

I had an SRX on my last one, loved it. I grabbed this raker because it was available and something to start with. I’m sure I’ll end up with a pile of props before long

Raised the motor up as high as it would go. Didn’t work for crap. I couldn’t get the prop to hold and it ran wet no pad a best of 40mph at 4400rpm. The prop is junk but I don’t know if I’m going to bother buying props for this motor.
the good news is the idle issue has resolved itself completely. It just needed to be run this motor now purrs like a kitten and it gets a lot of range out of a tank of gas. Can run the piss out of it without complaint it runs well.
going to drop it down a hole or two and give er another good. I raised it four holes and made scoops for the water pick up which work very well. The tell tale is strong all the time nowHydrostream dreamin

Dropped the motor down three holes so I’m one below where I started. Handling is much improved and this feels like the right position. Acceptable hole shot and no porpoising but, top speed is down 4mph. The prop won’t lift the boat onto the pad from this raised engine height. I was out all day and ran a ton of miles so the top speed wasn’t missed yesterday and the improved handling was nice. Needs a real prop
