Thanks guys. I guess this is the challenge with building these kind of boats nowadays. Not enough volume to justify keeping those kind of parts in production. I’ll give Brown machine a call tomorrow if I don’t hear anything back from Jack or he can’t help me. I need some other stuff from him too, like a windshield, which it seems they don’t have in stock, but cut the as they get an order.

    Cool

Found a company that can make me some coaming pulleys and they already offer a pretty cool rear steering pulley set as well (pictured below).

I like that it has a turnbuckle with two heim joints, so that you can adjust cable tension by just turning the centre barrel without removing the pulley from the steering arm.

Those look really nice , I like the cable guards... It makes me nervous seeing ones where the cables can fall of and get caught. Similar to the ones I made.

I’ve seen pictures of those pulleys on your boat. It’s also an STV Mod-VP right? With an awesome OMC with all kinds of sexy custom parts on it? That rig literally inspired me to get back at my project.
That’s a safety cable you have wrapped around the pulley frame, right? The best pulleys I’ve seen so far are the Shaun Torrente ones, which have a hole through the middle of the pulley hub (which I think are meant to allow for a safety cable as well?) and a guard around the pulley. Shaun makes some awesome stuff.

pull the pullies out, soak the housings in rotella to free them up. then dissassembly and clean. have a machinist make you new pullies they arent too bad to make just make sure you have a spacer washer in the middle so they do not bind up when tightened up. also which mod vp do you have??

also i have a set of alex motor side pulleys on my wingplates waiting for my boat to go back together. i did a small write up on them in the stv group on facebook. Alex is awesome to deal with as well and if he can make a set of coaming pulleys for you i wouldnt hesitate to do business with him.

Thanks. If you’re talking about my original coaming pulleys, they’re too far gone for me to mess with them. Even the brackets are corroded badly.
I have the former Monty Racing STV Mod VP, pictured below. I’m setting it up for drag racing with a Diamond modified Drag P/H on a 12” mid and Steckbauer XR6 LU.

Thanks man. I’ve already paid Alex for the front and rear pulleys and he’s going to start building the coaming pulleys tomorrow, he says. Glad I found him too, to be honest. I much prefer to support these small businesses that are owned by guys who put their heart and soul in their work, rather than some big corporation that has their stuff made in bulk in some far away sweat shop.

Yes we have the same boat. I have only run mine a few time since the covid mess, i had to redo the lower pans where they meet the f1 mid, i was getting alot of spray in the cowling. The safety wire is to keep the jamb nuts from rotating,

That’s a beautiful rig you have there, and one of a kind. Monty sold my boat to a friend of mine with an OMC F1 V8 on it and it was an animal after he put a MAD EFI setup on it. He sold it to another friend who still has that motor. Here’s what it used to look like many moons ago:

I really like your boat, the blue is similar to mine too. I would love to have a short 8 on mine... Just the cool factor alone would be worth it.
