Be careful thinking you are going to outrun every jet ski

These guys run the same section of the river that we do and I usually just lay in to my Allison or STV and outrun them but times are changing very quickly. There are groups of 50 or more that all run together like motorcycle groups and as in every group, some has to be the fast guy.

There are 3 all blacked out jet ski's that run out of Haul Over that blew by us running 65. There are groups of them that meet up at Nixon Beach almost every weekend. I have seen the 3 ski's twice and they are real quick have a real strange sound. Would rather be in a boat at those speeds.

Yep, Riva makes a basic kit for the Yamaha 1800 that turns them up to just over 350 hp and they run in the mid 80s. They are becoming some what common.

A good friend has one of these new machines with 260-280hp stock. They are actually pretty amazing. Get on it and go. Zero experience on a jet ski and I just let it rip. You top out in seconds. Amazing how stable they are. I want to say this particular was goes just shy of 80 (78-79).

I've seen Videos and Drags on Youtube. Amazing. I had a few hang with me in my STV at 75 before I walked away. I was surprised

Its a lot more then that but they still are half the cost of a new 450R and lets face it, most of the jet skiers are not boaters (don't look before they turn, don't follow basic navigation laws, and don't realize how much damage they can do to a boat and/or its passengers). Guys that have the money into a fast one should be the exception. The ones that scare me are the "family pack" where I see a mother and daughter chasing dad on another supercharged ski.

It takes over 20K on top of the cost of the pwc to get to a 100+ & a minimum of 3-5K to get even the fastest ones out of the box to 90. Just for the record, I've seen more ding-dongs driving boats over a 100 mph than pwc's. RR

My PWC is around 73mph. Plenty fast for a 580lb 8 ft rocket. The best part is you can do all this for under 5k.
