Looking for harder acceleration - (to 84.9mph) 5 Blade?
I'm on the never ending search for "more acceleration" - The boats raced in class 4 OPA so I'm limited
to 84.99, Yes the boat will pass the triple digit marks but in race water 85 is sketchy enough. So I'm
I'm looking to find a good prop that pulls hard around and out of turns.
I was spoke with a fishing guy and he said I should try a HIGH FIVE, They are not really a top speed
prop, but they pull hard and handle well...
What would (can) I expect from a High Five 25p.. suckers are small Dia. compared to my Hydromotive I'm
running now.

Your slip will go down for sure but you need to have the torque to get there out of the turns. My guess is that your lap times will go down just from staying "hooked up" better do to more blade surface being in the water. You can buy a Drag five at a reasonable price for comparison testing.

I had good luck with Merc Promax labbed props with all vent holes open. With vents plugged wouldn't come out of the hole worth a damn. Open it worked good. Once on plane acceleration was pretty good. I know over hub props( Drag 4) accelerated a lot better than an OT.

We used to ski with a High Five... was like getting pulled by a tractor, it would rip your arms off from "Go boat!" but never ran one anywhere near 85 mph.

Acceleration is mostly a factor of mass and power. You reduce weight or increase power then acceleration will increase.
Acceleration doesn't really care if your slip is 5% or 20%, if your engine is in the power band it will propel the boat forward nonetheless. A prop with more bite can actually decrease acceleration since it takes the engine out of the high-end of the power band.
You want a real change? Slap another engine on there..

I wouldn’t expect the high 5 was designed to run anywhere near 85. If it were me I’d be looking at Drag 4/5, Promax or calling Hydromotive

I did acceleration testing using logged GPS and accelerometer data and found the number of blades didn’t appreciably change it. The pitch was clearly the chief factor. One of my tests was a 25” high 5, which hit my rev limiter at 75 mph.

The Hi-Five did not really work, I'm guessing the dia was to small.. it did pull, but far to much slip.
I'm going to try and prop down 1 size with the same Hydromotive prop I have now..

If you haven’t tried a promax, it would be worth it. I found it accelerated better on my boat than most others.

It's just spam... "canoe surfer" is actually a hyperlink to another website. I reported him last week... must not be a big deal.
