    Meth/crack head on my street....

I live in farmland USA but have what all of us neighbors knows is a drug head in a house 2 doors from us.

He had a regular parade of cars every 1/2 hr until the law paid a visit and now traffic is gone.

He then spent an hr (we we’re gone) beating the **** out of the front of his house w/a bat!
Next day, next door neighbor called and reported it to sheriff.
They said they knew of him and had been watching him.
    Told him to do nothing.

He works away from home, his wife at home, me and my wife at home.
I told him to have has wife call or come over if scared.

How do I keep from spending my life in jail for defending them if it goes sideways?

His car traffic is gone thx to sheriffs and now so is his car.

    Quiet until today.

SUV shows up, drops off young girl, she goes in house and now his normally opened door is closed.

Sooooo.-......., they’re either in there making/doing drugs, or he’s doing her in exchange for.....

I called county sheriff and he said to stay in your house and call if anything happens!

Unfortunately there is not much you can do, but let it play out. Pictures or video of him doing off the wall stuff might help later on if it goes bad. Best you can do is to keep filing reports with the sheriff. Eventually he will slip up and end up doing some time.

Do you know if he owns or rents? If he rents, maybe you can contact the landlord and let them know what is going on. If one of my rentals had somebody like that living there I would be evicting them ASAP.

Good luck, sucks you have to deal with that.

You could have a big BBQ and invite local law enforcement + family, recommend they drive their patrol cars to your place, and see what effect that has.

Anytime we start target shooting our surrounding property owners seem to take notice and it eventually comes back to me that I make them nervous being a gun advocate--my response is you are welcome to come over and learn. Bottom line is that it makes a statement -- "we are not afraid to fire our weapons"....

Intervention? If you're up to it? Support his wife to organize family if she's up to it and have her sign the papers and lock him up until he kicks it. If that's possible to do.

Great idea, shame it probably won't work. That drug, like crack, seems to screw a persons brain all up.

In past times family and friends would sit on so to speak for weeks. Tied up naked, the children would feed him, the wife and women bath him. The shame and pride takes over after a while. The family would get him through it and screw his head back on. If he wants to keep the life he planned for he'll stay with it.
Probably wouldn't work today in this instant world.

From what I understand he is divorced and has been the 2 1/2 yrs we’ve lived here.

Am also told he has several domestic abuse cases against him.

The girl yesterday may have been his daughter for that matter.
    No knowledge of kids.

He bought the house from his grandmother who lives directly across the street from him and does nothing.

The neighbors wife has been watching him w/binoculars for months and is scared to death of him.
Often he will take his dog and walk the farm fields that border our yards.
    His grandmother owns that property.

He acts as if he’s looking for arrow heads.
He has been within 50’ of my open shop, w/doors open and me in it and never looked up, never made contact.

My neighbors has read that collecting stones/pebbles is a common trait for meth heads.
Sheriffs report it being common to see them in some design at meth houses.

I’m pretty good at reading people, and have a fairly acute sense of street life and I’ve seen a change.
Used to defend him w/my wife saying has done nothing to us, keeps to himself, other than looking for pebbles on his families property.

Used to wave on the very rare occasions we made eye contact.
Avoiding eye contact is often a case of insecurity or paranoia.
Hes walked his dog past our yard, on far side is street, while I was mowing our yard, and not made eye contact.

    That has changed.
The last two times passing him in my car, I waved and he didn’t.
Although my windows are tinted I’m fairly certain he saw me.

Neighbor said law told him he is scytsophrinic (?) and is medicated for it.

My view is, hes getting more agitated over the cops watching him, loss of traffic/revenue, car is maybe gone for good? (3 days so far)
It was a beater so the last few hundred for a fix and is circling the drain knowing we’re the ones calling the man in him?

My fear is, next time he walks his dog while I’m cutting my grass, he doesn’t ignore me.
Statistically, I have a horrible record of not ignoring/walking away.

One good is, the house next door to him just sold and for good money.
His dog barks constantly when anyone’s in that yard and ****s in it all the time.
No one would put w/that so I’d expect it to come to a head soon after new owners move in, if not before.

BTW, I cut my grass today but not before some target practice

You are in for a ride, man. If he "bought" the house from G-ma that lives right across the street and owns a bunch of land around y'all, it sounds more like she gave him the house and will pay the taxes to make sure it is not lost. When she does finally pass, he will likely get some kind of inheritance, hopefully. That will be the fastest way it will end. If she sets up a trust for him, his house taxes/expenses to be paid for, you will be looking at years of unrest, unfortunately.

I have 3 brothers, I am the oldest. Each one of them struggle with their demons. The youngest is a heavy drinker. Means no harm to anyone, does no harm to anyone. Very sad to see him lately. Either he is drunk or hungover and no matter which time you find him, he stinks. Stinks like alcohol on his breath, or that body stink the next day. Don't know how to describe it, but he stinks. He owns a trailer right by where he works. Makes it to work everyday and pays his bills. That is all he does though, and his life could be so much better.

The oldest of my younger brothers is a heroin addict. At least that is how he started. Not sure what he does now. When I (we) were younger I let him live with me for a bit. He could never keep a job and I understood. We were young, I considered myself lucky to find a job that I liked and made good money. I just could not help him to do that, he just did not fit anywhere. The problem came in that while I was out working, he was having his friends over to my place and I could not keep any food in the house as it would be gone by the time I made it home from work the next day. Not to mention the mess that was left. So after a bit of that, it was decided that we should not live together. It did not end quite that smoothly, but it did end. My house, garage and truck were broken into and things were stolen a couple few times after that. It was obvious who did it, as nobody else would have known where certain things were. He currently lives with our mother. Does not work, but is either high on something (will not stop talking) or stares blankly at the wall with his mouth open the last few times I have seen him. Again, it is just sad.

And then, my other brother. Not sure what he was doing, or is doing, or if he is even doing anything anymore. Either way, he has 2 of the most beautiful kids I have ever seen. At least they were. Right after the second kid was born things went sideways with him and the mother. And then he got his 3rd OWI. Went to jail for a bit. I had an agreement with the kids Mother that I took the kids on the weekends. They were 2&3 at the time. Shortly after being released for that, he got his 4th OWI. He made bail, but then got his 5th before his 4th was even settled in court. Did not bother me, I loved having those kids around on weekends, and weeks on end during the summer. Shortly after being released from that, he was arrested for a 6th OWI. This time he went away for a 3 year prison bit.

This brother was the worst. He used the kids for leverage. He would show up at my house all messed up demanding to see his kids. Alright, would let him see the kids, but would not let them out of my sight. Then he would want to leave with them, take them to the park down the street or such. OK, would go with them though. But then he would want to take them in his car to wherever. Big time no. We had it out a few times over that. He would call the police, they would show up, and after a few minutes of talking to each of us individually, they would escort him somewhere else telling him not to return or he would be arrested.

So, I have dealt with all kinds of addiction in my life. I know it is considered a "disease" but that is a cop out. Follow the money behind that one. If it were not labeled a disease, they could not bill insurance companies for treatment. That disease begins with a choice. You choose to start drinking or drugging. Why don't you go and get addicted to working, or doing charity work? That can be a disease too, right?

So yeah, keep yer head on a swivel. Addicts are unpredictable and you should expect the un-expected.

    Wow.

    An amazing post.

Thank you so much for bearing your underbelly to us.
    Wow.

Today he walked through the farm field looking at........, stones, Arrow heads, who knows.
Spent the last two hrs doing it in his front yard.

As I’ve already said, he’s really doing nothing to us so I’ll leave him alone.
I would think he’d respect that but probably has no sense of what it even means.

So my girlfriend comes home early from work a little while ago. Her niece was found unresponsive this morning. Her niece had a past with meth and heroin, but girlfriend did not know if it was because of that, at least she did not say. She was such a sweet girl, everybody liked her and if somebody did not tell me of her issues with drugs, I would have never guessed.

She was 26 years old. This is going to be a rough week.
