Yes, the V8 and V6 are very similar. The old mechanical stuff won't fit on the new digital stuff.

Welp , thats three of ya that slammed the door shut on that project .
I stand corrected .. I reckon it just can't be done by nobody , no how ...

Must be just as crazy to think ya can run an OMC powerhead , 2.5 Offshore clamp / OMC tiller up top / Slop~Stop yoke on the bottom / and a 3.0L lower unit ..
    Just won't work ..

Wake boats and increased traffic do not seem to offer favorable water conditions for anything with high speed capabilities than can't handle a 550# motor at this point. We had calm river conditions but still had a small boat come apart after going thru a cruiser wake.

Blue and white STV , yes I saw pictures of it . Owner admitted he wasn't paying attention , waved to a friend , when he looked back there was a big roller in front of him .
I get it that people don't care about their wake , it's why if ya wanna go fast … A week day with just a few of your trusted friends and no traffic is the best .. and/or have a big heavy wake thrower for the weekends . But then where does it end .. 30 feet … 40 feet .. maybe go straight to a 100 footer. There will always be row boats, Jon boats to Rybovich Sportfishers on the water. Doesn't mean we have to own a 550 pound four stroke to deal with all the different situations we encounter on the water .

Chaz, guys like us can make anything work; I’m the guy with Mercury outboard pistons on BMW rods in Corvair jugs with crank offset ground for 42mm Honda journals...I can Frankenstein with the best.

My comment was directed to the gentleman that was wondering if it’s a bolt on operation...it isn’t

I’m guessing if you make the mechanism that you describe maybe you’ll sell some...
A problem is only a problem when viewed as a problem...

I don't think anyone naïve enough to think you can stand across the street and horse-show pitch one in place .. front and back dowel pins , stud holes in the proper location and drive shaft location .. are the biggies , the rest can be worked out .

Hydro , you know what they say .. people are too busy making a living to ever get rich .. Never know what waits around the corner though ..
A friend of mine had an early Pro Stock 499 ci motor . Huge bore , destroked and Honda rod bearings . I can still hear that thing wailing …

Worth the effort .. ? If you "want" the smaller case and "need" a 1.62 /1 gear , then what other choice would you have … a $10,000.00 + dollar 1.60 /1 V-8 case ..

Power , it was the right adapter . The tiller arm bolted to it , that's all I was required to do .. and make a lower yoke to match / fit ..

Interesting note, the lower mounts on the regular V8 is the same as the V6, part # 813771003. And the Racing lower is #8M0149561. Stands to reason you could put the Racing lower on the V6.
