For Sale: (3) AMPS F1 Tunnel Hulls with Nitro Outboards

For sale: Selling three original AMPS F1 Tunnel Hulls with nitro outboards. If you are familiar with AMPS and International Hobbies models you know they are rare…especially ones that are in good of condition. It took me several years to collect these original hulls and outboards...I was in search of a Mercury, Evinrude and Johnson with the shorter racing mid-sections. Agnew Millar, the founder of AMPS was ahead of his time in the scale model boat market and these three model boats are great examples of what he engineered and built to perform like the real thing. Most scale models sacrifice performance for aesthetics but not the AMPS models. All of these models have integral trim built into the mid-section for trimming the engine on the fly while running. The following boat specifications for these three models are as follows:

    1. 38" Seebold Bud Light tunnel hull detailed after Bill Seebold’s F1 from the 80’s. This model is brand new and still needs final assembly. It comes with (2) new sets of gears and shims for the lower unit. The mid-section has as a new integral trim unit that is bolted up to a new nitro engine. It comes with a new bronze two blade prop and prop shaft cone with set screw. Final assembly and a radio box with radio gear is required to complete this boat. Price: $2,100 + shipping

    1. 32" Molinari International Hobbies tunnel hull detailed after the Barry Wood’s / Randy Pierson International Hobbies sponsored F1 hull from the 80’s. This actual hull and outboard were part of the AMPS/International Hobbies factory race team that raced scale models in the late 1980’s/early 90’s. It was done as a way to help market the brand. The four digit number (2062) denotes that it was an original race boat and a picture of it within their fleet of race hulls is shown below. The original cowl (which has a special lockdown mechanism different from others) as well as a new aftermarket replica cowl set is included. The lower unit was slightly re-shaped to improve performance for racing. The model has integral trim for the mid-section along with a nitro engine. Two spare sets of gears and shims for the lower unit and a two blade aluminum prop are also provided. In 1987, a feature article was done in one of the scale model magazines and a copy of that magazine is included; it could be framed and displayed with the boat. The original radio, electronics and spare glow plugs are also included with the sale. Price: $1,750.00 + shipping

    1. 34" Velden Benson & Hedges tunnel hull detailed after the factory sponsored F1 hull from the 80’s raced by Cees Van Der Velden. This model has the integral trim along with a nitro engine. The engine/gear case doesn’t turn over but (2) sets of new gears and shims are included with the sale. I have not run the engine nor attempted to disassemble it so not sure on the issue but engine parts and complete nitro motors are still available on ebay and other sites if needed. Price: $1,300 + shipping

I have not run any of these engines. If nitro isn’t your thing they could be converted to electric with the addition of an adapter plate, batteries and ESC, etc. All models are sold as-is and pictures are provided to show what is included with each. Each hull, outboard and accessories are sold as a package set and not willing to separate. Can ship at buyer’s expense.

Here's the picture showing some of the AMPS/International Hobbies factory race boats on display. No. 2061 is in the foreground with the Johnson...it's hard to see but No 2062 with the Evinrude is behind it in the background.

    BADDDD ASSS!

Always wanted one of those things.

    The detailing was amazing.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Instigator, now's your chance... Based on your boat history you might need both a Johnson and Evinrude...
