    Vanguard Banshee

Hello all, Done a fair share of reading the forums but have never posted. I can't find a lot of information on the Vanguard Banshee, being Canadian they come up for sale here once in a while. I have an older 150 I-6 and controls and was wondering if that would be a good engine on a banshee? I see them with 80's-90's and one Chrysler 105. One had a 140 on it in a video but was only short and not sure if it was wot or what. I was hoping someone here can shed some info on a higher hp on one of these.

    Thank's

Looks pretty cool that 150 i6 will do good. of course a good 2.4 2.5 200 v6 would b nice to. How long is the boat? Do you know dry weight?

I have seen them advertised as 15' and 16', not sure on the weight. All I found is they were built in Winnipeg, Manitoba that's bout it so far. Biggest concern is if it will turn into a hand full, bring extra underwear kinda thing!! Believe they are only rated for a 90.

It looked short , so I'm sure it's not heavy heavy being closed bow , will need some transom bracing if it's all original, if it dosent have a pad then u will need ex draws haha. if it has a pad it can be drove alot easier. But 150 sounds perfect if it's in good shape , dont try it if its soft and wet

Yes, nothing soft or wet. Some mods, minor repairs but not a big project are what I am looking for. Old Fiberglass boats up here don't do so well in this climate. Once water penetrates then freezes at -30 for a couple weeks things expand and its game over. Somebody will have a garage stored one for sale. Found a hull pic.

Cool looking vintage boat based on the Glastron GT 150. They are really small though. I've seen them with 70 HP do pretty well. Lots of them had a hook, I think the Vanguard did, so you could blue print the bottom. It would be a hand full with a 150! They were rated for up to a 90 back then.

15.5 ft, and about 650 Lbs.

When I was a kid a guy pulled up to the dock at camp in a Viper, loved the look of that boat. It looked fast sitting still, think he had a I-6 on it. Always wanted one. Whats ones options for that style of boat these days? Found a blue and white banshee with a 90 merc garage stored, supposed to be mint for 5k. Worth it?

5K if it was completely restored and perfect condition. These boats were slapped together, materials back then were not great. Otherwise, $500 running.

Not necessarily. but u dont want sumthin that's layed up like a bayliner, lol. I hear even hydrostream didnt have a great layup from factory , but anything from that era is gonna need some work if all original especially if u want bigger power than what they came with
