Any Airbrush Guys/ Gals out there ??

Just looking for a little advice and tips - wife bought me a pretty decent set , 2 dual action guns gravity feed and suction /and matching compressor, and air brush paints. Been playing around with it after I get off work here and there , but its a steep learning curve for a novice with zero artistic skills. Watched a bunch of videos on you tube trying ghost flames - and they are tough, I scare it from time to time and almost get close and kill it with too much paint-
Reaching out for tips if any of you guys play with this stuff. Thanks in advance

Just keep doing it and you will improve, how much? It is an art form and tough to master it w/o lots of practice. I can do shadows, effects, designs, and such but the free hand 3d portraits and true art are beyond me. I learned a lot from an old 70's book called "the art of custom painting". Learn how to control your materials. and gun. Add clear to the colors to avoid covering too much. Different thinning amounts can do the same thing. You have already learned that too much paint is bad. Paint some then step back and study it. You can add more, but removing.....arghhh. I still have my paasche air brushes and compressor.

Get a pack of playing cards. Cut some shapes out of them and make some of the edges jagged etc. They are a great way to do small curves and shapes with sharp crisp edges. Great for repetitive designs and shapes. Start building a set of "tools" to do your thang with. I like abstract designs, and learned a lot by just letting my mind wander doing shapes and scenes.

Look here Hippie , Dont YOU tell me how to huff paint
Its all water based anyway , no joy
Hopefully see ya @ The World Tunnel Champs my friend . Will send ya a message with my new cell.

So , back to wasting paint - Added a little more color and I kinda sorta have a plan for the rocket , did something else to take my mind off it for a few.... Ehhhh, its okay - I enhanced them both a bit so you could actually SEE the colors here.
Lets here it , keep in mind Its still a work in progress...........Click image for larger version.

Needs some freak drops.....That's where you hold the gun still and just hit the paint trigger and let it "blob" up paint and then hit it with air to spread it out.

I've always called 'em blow dots. But yeah, what he said.
Spray bombs & shop air blow nozzle right after works on the beer fridge too!
