Can someone help me identify this lower unit? It is on a 1996 225 3.0 with a 25in shaft. It has low water pickup, the rear of the skeg is straight.

I am looking for another one like it with lh rotation

    Thanks

    Mike

My boat has 3 of them, they are rigged high for surfacing, I would like to have one that matches the others, especially needs low water pickup. I believe this one is an early torquemaster, but I dont have vast knowledge of all the configurations. Any help to identify what this one is will be helpful. It is on a 25 ft cat with 225 triples..

Yes, that is an early torquemaster. The skegs have been straightened, they didn't come like that. If you want to find another you gotta drop it and check the splines and gear ratio...who knows what someone could have put on there.

And btw, why in the world is your prop spaced back so far?

The prop is just sitting on there
I just rescued this boat. Luckily it was stored with no fuel in the carbs, but I am doing some restore work on it and taking stock of what all is there, good, bad, ugly. The motors are tight, low time, great compression, they fire right up and run great on the trailer. The lowers are coming off for inspection , reseal. and impeller, one needs to be swapped to a LH. All 3 are RH. Thinking serious about pulling off the middle motor and running twins, but I will get it on the water first and see how it performs. Hull is in great shape, kevlar cap, pretty decent original gelcoat, heavy layup hull. No rot. 1990 warlock sxt.

Found this on another board, might help.

"MOST commonly, you will find a Fleetmaster Gearcase on a MULTI-ENGINE boat, in a PORT SIDE position.

The Fleetmaster Gearcase is identical to the Torquemaster (even has the HD 1-1/4" propshaft), except that it DOES NOT have a torque-tab cast into the starboard side of the case."

I was just reaching that conclusion. The skeg doesn't appear to be cut. Unfortunately, it should be LH but it spins RH. The props are RH, RH, LH. All I can think is the previous owner swapped it on and never ran it, or ran it in reverse (which would be a death sentence to the internals). All three lowers appear to be in great shape tho.

No idea how this boat will perform, or if it will be fast enough to matter. I know on my daytona 21. Minor details in the lower configuration mattered a lot, the boat ran over 100mph with ease and you could really feel differences in setup, prop, etc. This warlock is heavy, not sure it will have the balls to get up and break free of the water, and get really lively.

As is pics when I picked it up, hard for me to believe such a cool boat would be neglected..it is going to clean up good, good bones, needs interior and tlc. If things work out maybe it ends up with a fresh set of motors in a year or two.I will see how the old 225s run. They seem to be in great shape. I'm sure they will burn some serious fuel...sure is a well built hull, some serious craftsmanship in it.
