1974 Mercury 1500 Outboard “J” block short shaft

Serial number - 3752542

Motor was purchased from original owner. Factory short block installed in 1976, hence no serial number on block. This has the much-desired J block designation. New standard bore high dome mercury pistons, rings, all bearings, gaskets, decals, plug wires, stator wires, internal harness. Motor 100% torn down , every piece cleaned , every thread chased or helicoiled as needed, media blasted and repainted with high quality primer and several coats of Acrylic Enamel with hardener. All new stainless fasteners used. Solid motor mounts top and bottom. STANDARD water pick up lower unit. Motor has been test run on a stand only. Compression numbers are all 137-141 PSI all cylinders. MOTOR needs complete break in procedures run with double oil.
Lower unit disassembled, inspected and new seals installed , holds 12 PSI overnight. Pumps water fine as is but recommend new impellor as this one is 3+ years old. Few light scratches on lower unit from moving around for the last 4 years in storage.
Has additional Mercury steering tube for dual ride guide steering. Power trim rams and hoses included, no trim pump.
