Can and should aint the same. Engine oil today is wildly different than engine oil of yesterday. Additives and whatnot, its a risk that you dont need to take. Pour oil on some rubber and leave it and watch what it does to it. Hydraulics are filled with rubber seals. Of course its your pump and your boat, run what you feel good about

It was right in between low and full.

No, 3/4 of the way. It will trim up fine but it will not trim out. I took it apart and the upside valve wouldn't come out.

Like Chaz said, sounds like it's low on fluid...........Needs to be checked full up, You'll need to open the manual relief valve and manually get it all the way up, then fill the reservoir. Then raise and lower it a few times to chase out the air and recheck the level.

Just use synthetic ATF and must be filled and topped up in fully up position.

I'm putting a new bobs pump in it right now. Since I couldn't get the valves out of the old pump I decided to order a bobs. Should I use the new fittings on the right or the old fittings on the left? My concern is that the new ones don't have the screen like the old ones. If I use the new fittings will it matter that I can only use one? I would have to screw the "up" hose directly into the pump if I don't use the old fittings since it's a male end on the hose and it won't screw into the bobs fitting. Also, I drained most of the cylinder by lifting the engine up and down. Anything else I should do?

Thanks for the tip on the Lucas stuff. Never thought of trying that. I have a weeping trim cyl on my 150 I6... I'll give it a shot.
