    1998 Mercury 225 EFI

Looking at a possible boat purchase with a 1998 Mercury 225 EFI.
I know very little about this motor. Is it problematic? How does it compare to the Black Max 200 as far as fuel economy and reliability? I would prefer an optimax but this 225 is on a boat that I am looking to purchase. 1992 Cheetah 19' runner bottom bow rider.

When I say fuel economy I'm looking at fuel economy at cruising speeds of 45-55 mph all day. Thanks guys.

That is a good motor. I would rather have that than an optimax or the black max. Gas will not be too bad on that light hull.

How do I tell if this is a promax or a black max? Finding info on the web is difficult for me.

Thank you. I failed to mention the engine cowling is custom painted to match the boat scheme. No identifying decals.
