    2.0 Electrical Questions

I was reading some posts I put up a while back and saw that some of you guys said to get rid of the box above my carbs. I can't find the post where it was named though. I think it retards timing or something. There are 2 sets of wires coming from it that connect to the power packs. How do I get rid of it? Just not hook it up? And how will it help me. Thanks

It's an idle stabilizer that's kinda like the oil injection. When it works it's fine but when it goes down issues arise.

Right on rock, thanks. It needs to go then lol. Lost a motor to oil injection once. My motor has a little black box that sits on top of the carbs. It has two sets of wires coming from it. With three wires in each set. Do I just leave it off?

So I have not seen a direct answer, but I just want to know if I discard the black box and not worry about where the wires used to go on the power packs? Thanks

The module will advance timing if rpm drops below 550. It also advances timing once you reach 5000 and retards at 5600. Remove wires from switch boxes. Never seen one with two sets of wires but will assume they are hooked to the same locations on boxes. White/black, black, and red/white.

21 should be gud for the 150 , I got little rattle in mine with 23 but was on reg gas , if wires from box go to switch boxes then unhook them and remove box , should only have trigger, stator, coils wires to switchbox.

Looks like that's it , pics r little fuzzy. Only wires on switchbox should b stator, trigger, coils, white and black bias wire and black/yellow (I think without lookin) kill wires.

Then u will need to find tdc and set max timin then adjust rest of link and sync stuff

Not meant to be unfriendly. Everything that can be said about ditching the boxes has been said though. Now that you know what you need to do it should be pretty simple to search and figure out how.

When it comes down to it, just about everything possible with the Merc V6 has been done. If you poke around in the archives in here you'll find it. Guys like Jay Smith, John Marles and Chris Carson have said that they don't want to give up all their secrets. Well, they just didn't do it all in one thread. You can learn how to seal your case halves, how to properly assemble your pistons and rods, figure your ring gap, clearance your pistons, set up your carbs, set up your electronics, time it properly, how to break it in, and how to tune it. It's all here. I know, I've read it! It's still here for you to read too...
