OMC Renegade Bass on my Merc 115

    Hi all,

I bought an OMC Renegade Bass 25" as it was about the only 4-blade prop I could find with a pitch over 21" that would fit my motor, a Merc F115 2019.
Ran in to a few issues though and I hope some of you can help me out.

The original thrust washer for my motor doesn't fit ,as expected, but I had one from a Bravo 1 drive that seems to work just fine. Is it safe to use?
It worries me that the original thrust washer seems to hold the gearcase oil seal in place. Maybe not!?

The diameter of the prop "housing" ,or what it´s called, is a tiny bit to large. I removed the white nylon ring from the gearcase and the problem was solved. The question is - do I need the white ring?

    Regards,
    Jonas - a lost swede

You only need the white ring if you have venting issues- its a POS design- and oftentimes exhaust heat will soften the retaining tabs on the bushing such that it comes out of the gearcase and wedges on the prop. On my 150 4S running Trophy Plus props I can throw the bushing after a 3 mile run at 4000 rpm or higher- so I just run without it with no issues. I ran a Tempest prop for awhile which has a larger hub that just clears the ring on a 150 4S and had no problems. But the extra heat from the exhaust flow over the small Trophy Plus hub softens the tabs quickly. Run it without the ring and don’t worry. As for Merc they don’t seem to have a clue about this issue- which is odd because its a common problem with bass boats running either the Trophy Plus or chopper style props.
