waterproof rubber bump stop for transom
I need a waterproof 3" x 2" x 1/8"-1/4" thick self adhesive rubber bump stop for a transom location.
Something in the shape/size of an oval shape boat trailer clearance light or equivilent.
I have a situation where the top of the Bobs nosecone casting at the cavitation plate joint may scrape against transom when trimmed down in rough water. The engine has solid mounts. I do not want to move the engine further back at this time.
I know can set the trim rod up a notch to avoid this, but I need the extra little bit of negative trim position for a variety of applications.
Before I try a product like flex tape, I am wondering if anyone has the hot tip.
It will need to be waterproof as it will be under the water while the boat is in use. I want to stick it on and forget it for the rest of the season.
Please let me know what you think. Thanks,
Scott

Cut a pc of a car tire sidewall. Stick it on with black silicone. Can be removed and silicone removed like it was never there. Tuff and cheap.

How do you get the pre-curve out of the sidewall so it will lay flat long enough for the silicone spoo to setup?

Thanks David,
Thats kinda what I'm thinking for now. Thanks for the link I appreciate it. I like the 1/4" thickness. I'll see if it has a water proof spec. If I don't find an off the shelf stick & forget pad type thing then I'll probably do the tape thing.
Question,,, Are you in Juneau playing on/doing speed runs in the the Sinnisippi Bayou? I ran through Juneau regularly years ago from Beaver Dam, on my way to Horicon, Mayville & Thresa.

I always wondered if there was a patch up there you could get a straight run at from the Dam up river. Towards the Golf course and the Marina at the shore.

Half mile is all you would find "reasonably" straight (I think) on the river (right in front of the golf course)... ~2+ miles on Lake Sinnissippi but I'm not sure on the depth. There's a lot of stumps & barns & silos down there from when they flooded the area, I'm told.

Thanks for the reply back Dave. Wow! I didn't know that. Interesting. Sounds like a no go test track.

Thanks for the replies guys.
This is a Bobs inline 6 cone I just got back.
I looked at grinding off the casting the 3/8" or so I'd need at the top and coming down finishing at an angle. On this cone the top of casting at the water outlet is pretty skinny there. Not much to work with. With my luck i'd break thru the casting into the water cavity. Notching the top of the cone like we used top do on 15" V6 Stuff would not have worked on this boat the way its rigged.
I've decided to bump up the tilt pin a hole and plan to do a rubber bumper with quick set Marine Tex.
BTW: I've Been running Sportmaster gearcases along time. Haven't have a Bobs cone put on in a very long while:
This one came back perfect.. Nice packaging and $4000 of Insurance is included on the way back They fill in the water inlet cavity as part of the job now. Good Looking Hose & Hardware. Very nice Body work and paint. I was going to put a Bobs cone on myself on another case I have. Not going to do that now. Will have Bobs Do it. After my countless Nose cone installs years ago. I cannot see me getting the results they gave me. However, As usual times have changed. I was Very surprised how much it costs now.Last edited by scott reierson; 07-04-2020 at 09:25 PM.
