21 checkmate pulsar needs help
I have a 1995 21 Pulsar Checkmate closed bow, running a stock 225 pro max with a sports master, 10 inch set back. The best top speed stays around 65 mph. it ran the same top speed with a stock 200. rpm stays at 6100 rpm unless i over trim it. I'm running a 23 laser 2 and a 23 chopper 2, both with the same top speeds. the 200 was running a 21 Calabla prop. the prop is a larger dia than the others. I'm wondering if the sport master is slowing me down more than helping. and I can see that I had a nice balance with the heaver 200 than with the stock pro max, so I can see another 5 inch set back could help out some too. Looking for feed back.

I'm running a CNC power jack plate. the higher I go with the engine, the more I lose bow lift, with the 200, I was running it with the cavation plate about 2 inches above the bottom of the hull. with the pro max, I start there and go up 6 inches, so I've run with the prop shaft even with the bottom of the boat. slip goes up, but not speed. I think the best was with the cavation plate 4 inch above the botton of the boat running the chopper 2, that was 68 and 6300 rpm. I still have oil injection and stock rev limiter. (nice way to keep my wife happy)

Need to measure prop shaft to pad with motor neutral trim (level) dont measure cav plate , the laser 2 isnt a great prop out of the box , the chopper should run better , maybe get prop shaft 2in below pad and start there , if u can find a trophy or tempest prop to try u will get ur bow lift back while tryin surface it , I was just fighting the same thing with my rig , and just sent my trophy off for work to b abke to run it higher and keep bow lift

1 more thing. If the 200 had a stock case with stock water pick up on sides , those will provide more lift than a sporty also

I've been told to do a Trophy 4 blade a few times now, so I'm going to start looking for one. I'm going to run the chopper on Friday morning and play with height and driving style. Doing the math, my setup is only good for 70 mph, so I'm going to see if I can drive the last 5 mph out of it. (24 pitch prop, 1.87 gear, 6500 max rpm, 10% slip)

Well, if anyone has a 23 trophy for sale, send them my way, or even a 25, be fun to try it.

I ran a 1992 open bow model of your boat some years back. Motor was a 225 Evinrude mounted 3 holes up on the transom- no set back. Best prop was a 24 Raker with added tip cup which ran 72 mph GPS. I tried a smaller diameter 3 blade- a Turbo- and it wouldn't hook up well- lots of slippage. I also tried a 27 pitch OMC Chopper which was a bear to get on plane and had too much pitch.

ran the checkmate today after looking at my setup. figure out were the engine was level with the bottom of the boat and that with the engine all the way up, the tip of the bullet about a 1 1/2 bellow the pad. With it level, and all the way up, she runs 69.7 mph at 6500 rpm, running a chopper 2 24 p. then tried a Calbaros 25 pitch prop because I had it. ran 69.4 at 5800 rpm, its a larger dia prop, so it all makes sense, and all the numbers work. Going to go after a 25 trophy, it see if I can pull the small dia. I was also happy considering the 90 degs and 80% humidity.
