Jesus... if you're blowing up three engines a weekend you might look at your motor program... didn't you bust one or two last year too?

He has a point, something is wrong,
Looking at the missing piston, when my race motor does something odd, I shut it down, I've never destroyed a piston like that.
I don't know any west coast motor builders, Jay Smith's in Texas, fuel issue?, It's been 25 years since I've had a carb Merc.We have invented the world; WE see

Just bought a diesel pusher MH, hope to make it next year, would like to bring my boat, but I'm not going to change it to a 20in just to race.
15in motors are safer making corners that's for sure.
So how many Div 5 boats were there, how fast are they.?
That's what a 300xs on a 15 mid would run right.Last edited by CUDA; 11-05-2020 at 11:22 PM.

Our motor program comes from a well known engine builder from this site who has been sponsoring us for a while.
My sprint racing 2L has been running hard for 7yrs and completed 5 Enduros requiring only new rings.
It has been on the same 1 piece exhaust with no problems.
When we decided to run the 2.5 and 2.4 oval port in Div VI we started having what we thought to be lean issues with a fuel injector and when we switched back to carbs (wh 46 and 20's).
We retarted the timing and fattin them up.
We've always ran mostly steel sleeved ported fishin motors.
Based on the help we've received by PM's by well known racers we need to look at cooling issues and water routing especially on the 2.5's. Thank you to those who are trying to help.
Learning curves suck and nobody likes a quitter.
Noah I'll save a spot next to me at next years Enduro

The sponsor for bakers motors is 1 hell of a engine builder , i do know he has also stepped out of the box when building these , tryin sumthin little diffrent here and there and im sure there's gonna b a learning curve, he's got motors turnin 8k all over the United States and across seas that's living a happy life. I am little biased tho I admit , they will get one they like and figured out , best of luck Keith

I know who the builder is, it's not exactly some kind of secret. The fact that he's such a super builder and still blowing these things up like it's his job is a little more concerning honestly. It almost seems like there HAS to be a third party issue (possibly the cooling as mentioned) or fuel system or something.

2 were my engines and 1 was another engine builder so it is most likely a common issue with our set up/combination. The 2.4 (fatblock 2.5 block style) lasted all race last year but we were feeding it a ton of fuel. This year it popped the same way the 2.5 did last year so there maybe something going on with the plate, block, ect. We are trying some out of the box things to gain advantages which can increase the chances of failure. The cooling issue is something that we are having to look into and maybe the reason for 2 engines being lost but the 2.5 suffered a different type of failure this year. Never had a issue with the earlier block only the 2.5 style. I am going to build a very close to stock 225 promax for reliability and then a steel bore 260 for power for next year. We will figure it out and be competitive soon.
