First of all the plate they give you is not big enough for the top holes of the clamp so you have to use the extensions. Those extensions are barely big enough so they need to be adjusted still with the risk of the bolts loosening and then the engine drops if they do.

So you need to make a piece of metal (maybe wood) to use to bolt to the plate which will then bolt to the upper engine mount holes.

It is still not high enough to mount a 25" for those that convert to 20's or dont take the lower unit off right away, so you have to raise the post, which is more work, or build the top metal bar piece taller.
Got it. The one I have has none of the deficiencies described above, but I stay away from 25" mids...__PRESENT

Be careful if the wheels are not extended in front of the post, had an engine fall forward as I was lifting the back of it. Hopefully with the wheels in front of the wooden stand I made it will not fall forward as easily

Got an engine up on the stand so I could drill the bracket holes. When the motor is hanging in the air the transom bracket its tilted, no problem because it's pretty easy to put an engine on this stand. It hooks up on the top as I lowered the hoist and then I push the stand into the engine(forces the engine to tilt flat into the stand) while I put the bolts in.

As far as safety, It will take a lot of movement for an engine to fall off this stand, I dont think I have the strength to do it even, it is very balanced. And it is very easy to maneuver around the garage...

Nothing wrong with them at all. But I can build a motor stand for much less using a cheap dimensional lumber(pine) and a set of caster off Amazon., and smaller footprint to boot. Heck I usually have some leftover wood from a project i had to do, when I need to build one.

Mine has been sitting on this old POS stand for 2 years. Always nervous when moving it around as its very unstable. It wants to tilt left or right cause the pivot pin is loose, then the engine swings left or right on the swivel bracket. Probably could've charged money to watch me pull the lower unit out of it yesterday. Like a monkey trying to f**k a football as the saying goes haha. I'll feel a lot better once the powerhead comes off in a few weeks.

The wood stands are so strong that I put powerheads on the front deck part along with an engine on the uprights to make the stsnds even more stable. I guess 750 lbs. total.

Looking good! These wood stand hold up plenty and if you use good casters they roll really easy.
