Every single top fuel dragster/funny car runs mopar based hemis. One could argue that Jaguar was first but that’s irrelevant. You won’t ever hear me saying mopars are slow and can’t run as fast or faster than the rest of em, it’s just gonna cost you more coin is all

This might make Chaz smile.

FUJIMO, if you put one of those engines in a street car you would have to have a passenger ride with ya to be your eyes for the other side of the road.Last edited by CDave; 06-17-2020 at 09:21 PM.

Wait , wait , wait … you mean drag racin is sposta be … fun
It was a 14 hour day M-F which was nothing compared to effort put in at the track on weekends … wouldn't trade it for nothin .. but glad it's over .
An LS is way too mainstream for Gary .. he'd have to have a nail-head Buick with Ford heads on it with an old azz Paxton whistle, driven out in front of the crank and throw the radiator in the trunk ..
Yes that Vette was fast , not sure I'd wan't to do it with an IRS rear ..
Perfect example .. where is that record posted … No F'in Where .. that's where
When my kid was 14 , I found this car at a friends body shop. They totaled it , I bought it for $1500 . Him and I fixed it , same place painted it for us . We brought it home and dropped a .030 over 400 / hyd roller / 10:1 / 10" converter 700R4 slushbox / 3.73:1 in the Dana 44 . I drove it for 6 or 7 months … when my kid turned 16 , I tossed him the keys …
I do remember that being a lot of fun .. He had a boxer from Europe that was one of his strength and conditioning clients. He'd leave at 6 am 3 days a week, I'd love to open my window and listen … Rump~iddy~rump , slide thru the converter ,lay in it a little , chirp 2nd .. up the bridge .. that time of morning , I could hear him a mile away .. I'd giggle like a schoolgirl , close the window and take a quick nap till the alarm went off ..
He drove it till he got married , parked it under a tree in the back forty. Bought a Honda box lookin thing .. ( prob the mature thing to do ) Oh well , I still have the car , drove it around the block a few times .. just to much to do at work , by the weekends .. not enough motivation at my age to do that car over my way .. and my boat at the same time ..

Bottom ad is for a ‘94. They yr I stopped liking Stangs.
I think they look like pigs.
In that era, they’d gain 200 lbs and 15 hp’s.
Ford would brag about the 15 hp.
My wife at the time, wanted one.
Were going to trade her Taurus towards one.
I said if we did, it’d have to be a GT.
For her to agree, I had to also trade my VW Scirocco 16V.
We drove the GT home to p/u the VW for appraisal.
The GT was a pig!
I raced the wife to 60 from a dig and roll and beat her both times!
I put a cam, exhaust n chip in the VE but still......
We got back to the dealership and I told the salesman about our race results and he didn’t believe me.
I challenged him for pinks.
He refused and we went home w/o the car.
Thx again for all the suggestions guys but it’s looking like it’s going to be a while.
The home built pool/deck project has me pretty well buried.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Fair enough. Seeing as records were mentioned here’s the two current record holders. The truck is a completely stock bottom end truck motor and the camaro is Dave Adkins Baker Engineering built race car. There will be faster but so far these are the records. Funny thing about that, I didn’t mention any records before this post? I guess a record has to be recorded somewhere other than on the internet for it to be a record? Hmm

Lake .. actually I was making a bit of fun at the "so called records" ..
You could have went down the next 600 pages or so of "records" if you want to take the time. I reckon it not enough to have a fast and beautiful car any more .. they gotta carve out niche record that only they fit into .. and it seems that records can now be set with out a back up run .. and no post race tech inspection ..
Stock bottom end .. yea OK , Meticulous block blueprinting , balanced rotating assy , new parts , " fuel hoops , 1/2" head studs , look up ~ The Tim Mullins" , Frankenstein's latest head castings , ball bearing Precisions or Bullseye's .. and drop it in an old Pro Stock truck ( still worth 50 - 60 K as a roller ) and safe as any at those speeds .. but pulled out of a U~pick yard …
Speakin of lookin up … see what "Stevie Fast" says about turbos .. with illustrations , on his dry erase board … LMAO

All in good sport not a single worry here. Steve Fast is quite a character. He drives almost as fast as he talks. It is impressive to see the resurgence of all these door slammer events bringing the big crowds out.

Here's one. https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/ct...148197603.html. There was a 67 or 68 mustang in Cinci with a 460 and a cage and I think back halfed for 5000. Can't find it now.
