Erik ran against the jets on the san jacinto. Pretty damn cool to see and he'd tell ya about that. His boat was moving for sure. Them jets make some mph on the big end. We all know it's the first to cross the finish line though.

Welp , Power , the easy answer is … because we can ..
I wouldn't put any money on it , unless they give ya 20 out front ( 20 boat lengths ) and the wiggle ( they can't go till you move ) ..
Need : Desire to be on top of the hill ..
NA motors are making 2000 hp these days ..
The belt drive supercharger stuff seems to run best in the low 500 ci like 526 ci.
Turbo motors do best in the high 500 - mid 600 ci range . I don't think I'd try one of those "long tail" shafts on the back of one of these … but if you do , let us know how it works out for ya ..
The 903 ci motors were the best compromise in nitrous racing but that has crept up to 959 ci . Now I hear that Jamie Hancock has a 1200 ci motor .. big and powerful .. It's the AMERICAN way ..

2hp per ci, ok, same as a good outboard years ago...but I guess that was pre EPA

Power ol boy ,
Thank god I have never seen the epa walking around the race track with sniffers .. it would be another feather in the left wing dims cap ..
I see you skipped over the 10,000 HP from 526 ci …
2 hp per ci .. isn't much if you have 100 ci and make 200 HP , but if you have 1000 ci , well you saw it for yourself .. .. to see it in person .. would remove any doubt's
The most impressive part of that is , the block is only 1/2 inch longer that an early 1960's 375 hp 396 ci motor .. next , I would say it is basically the same bolt pattern wedge (or Chemi) head feeding enough airflow to produce 1625 more HP ..
I'd still like to see you try to tie one into one of those long tail canoe's …
