    BRP "Ghost Project" Information

With Evinrude as we know it going by the wayside, what does anybody know about the "Ghost Project"? Speculation maybe says that a 4 stroke Rotax may be mated to some kind of a lower and mounted to the stern of a boat? I don't believe that any of it will be inside the boat like an I/O. Any thoughts or insider information?

I get the big "Rotax make lots of power for being small and light"

They have no torque... a 200hp pcw motor WONT get a 22' boat on plane and perform

Is project ghost something new I hope. But the "BRP makes jet ski motora that a twice the power of outboardd that weigh twice as much" crowd need to realize its two worlds

Someone already posted a spy pic. Looks like a big version of the old 9.5 hp 'toilet' motor.

So what length of boat do they classify it as? Is the top one a 19' and the bottom a 21'? Or are they both the same? It seems that everyone else with the same size boat will have a higher hp rating and capacity.

I wondered the same thing, the second boat isnt the same as the first. Just start adding length to make it fit?

how hard will it be to convert a punter to some specific brand of boat because of the power source?
How does that work now with BRP and Merc boats and how is the purchasing decision made?

If a battery had the same or better power density than a tank of gas that might do it but we are years from that

It is wild that nobody knows much of anything about the Ghost motor. If it were even something being considered you would think that there would be some word "on the street".

IT's the new sail drive, seadrive or quite rider. did not sale well then or now. Most boat manufactures are not going to retool their molds to build one every now and then. Not easy to work on a fuzz ball in saltwater. People work on jetski's most dont like to.

No it wasn't, what a pile of ****. from starter to shear pin it was a complete failure, when the upper motor mounts gave out they would self pull the choke out, that motor is on the top of the we do not accept list.

Anyone thinking there is still a slight shimmer of light for Brp/Evinrude with the ghost and that it's going to be something revolutionary that will change the tide... well DON'T hold your breath...I can pretty much guarantee you that will literally be a ghost. Just another indicator they have no clue and don't listen to the market or dealers that have been in the industry for 50 years. Why the hell they just didn't make the smaller dfi motors that are way better than the giant 4 blow pigs and build a big 350-400 4 stroke for the masses and call it a day. Yup you brp execs would all still be employed... oh wait i forgot you can blame it on covid and pull the chute, same old story the workin man gets the shaft from piss poor decisions. I want to know how they are going to support the warranty claims for the next 7 years if they are closing the plant, how many Powerheads and gearcases do you build to make it thru and what if you run out???
