Damn old Johnson!! Need assistance from wiser ones..

Johnson 225hv 88year. Old owner had burnt rectifier and i replaced it, now charges and rpm is working. Same time i replaced waterpump, everything on it. When test runned it in water barrel it peeped long alarm couple times. It is staying cool not getting heat top of the block. Putted it in water and gettin plane...nice smooth rode about 5mins and loooong lasting peep and drops revs down to 3000rpm. You can drive idle but not over 3000rpm. Taking powers off it zero's fault and let it go on plane again and ofcourse peep long lasting. Checked gasoline pump and it was ok, i have electric assembled after filter. Filter replaced also. So is it how possible that heat sensors has also burned same like rectifier??? VRO also old owner has deleted and i mix oil straight to tank...

Also, make sure the VRO wiring harness is disconnected.

On the cooling side.... was the impeller broken up? Or maybe one broke up with the old owner..... might have pieces clogging op the cooling system

Cooling is working because it is not getting hot after running. Impeller was ok and i replaced everything in waterpump. Maybe i take wires off from temeprature swithes and do the test run.

Lake is right, you need to verify the temperature. You can do this one of two ways; either use melt sticks or a hand held temperature gun to check the temperatures. Check at the top of the cylinder heads near the thermostats. And as said before make sure there are thermostats install and they are working correctly. The temperature senders could have gotten sprung during a good overheat and might be tripping at lower temperatures.

    Have you tested the thermostats?

Theres those infra red temperature tools too. Not sure if you'll get an accurate reading of what the coolant temp is but you should be able to figure out if its overheating with one. Certainly the fastest way

Yes i checked the thermostats altough i didnt boil them. More interested was the Johnsons system in water circulation wich is controlled with 2way valve and thats why i replaced waterpump because mark water is very little unless you give more rpm´s. I dont know how much it should get temperature after running or idle but both cases i can put my hand both blocks and i dont burn my hand not even close.
I am very same way with you that senders have got sprung in a good overheat and give false info.

sounds like a simple case of temperature senders have gone bad. it happens. these are now very old and often go bad. probably find when you get them off they are corroded.
simply disconnect the wire from it and run a proper temp gauge on the heads.
the reason it goes down to 3,000 rpm is the S.L.O.W mode coming in at the power pack for over heating and no oil alarm thing... its meant to do that very thing..
I would definitely go straight for bad temp sensors. I had exactly the same thing on a 1995 3 cyl rude.

P.S when running in a water butt, make sure you have a hose running in the butt as well because the water in there warms up very quickly unless its a huge tank !!!

Yes, it goes down to 3000 and when you switch off and start again it is okay until you again try to get on plane. I will get those new ones as fast as i can.

Was doing test today and disconnect single brown from temp sensor and still long peep and slow mode. Checked other side sensor two wires and noticed that white/black was connected to tan wire and tan wire was connected to white so changed them other way and no peeps anymore. Runs perfectly!!!!!
